The idea of a treasure chest originated with the “tall tales” of pirates glamorizing their exploits at sea. The fantasy is kept alive through the years by movies. We imagine glimmering chests found on ships and beaches filled with shiny coins, jewels and diamonds. This is what makes chests so special, they symbolise the storage of valuable items.
